Not to be confused with Saint Anthony the great finder of all things lost. This Saint Anthony the Great is for the times we live in now. He is a comfort. For we remember the Way to Heaven through his life.
Saint Anthony had a vision where the whole world was full of snares and traps.
He cried to the Lord, "Oh good Lord, who may escape from these snares?"
A voice said back to him, "humility shall escape them without more. "

Again: Our Faithful Representive, Bill Diss VS Planned Parenthood's Genocide Agenda
Bill Diss has been called into yet another hearing with the Portland Schools concerning his fight for his students against the Planned Parenthood agenda at Benson High. This encroachment actually pays students for a signed permission slip from the parents.
If a teacher was reading the Planned Parenthood material to his/her students on his/her own, they would probably be arrested for contributing to the deliquency of a minor. www.teenwire.org www.takecaredownthere.org
From Pro-Life Warrior Therese Ruesink.
Dear Prolife Friends,
Thanks so much for your continued prayers for Bill Diss!
When I called Tuesday to ask how his hearing went, he Emailed that our prayers must have worked, b/c they postponed the hearing until Friday.
He couldn't call me because he was having phone issues (I hope that didn't mean he was having problems b/c of $ issues--I think he has a lot of legal fees now--we should think about having a fund raiser for this).
Another thought is to bring out the BIG GUNS, and have (many) Masses offered up for his intentions. The Holy sacrifice of the Mass has huge power!!
As you Catholics probably already know, you can give a small donation to your priest, around $10, and have a Mass offered up for someone / someone's intentions.
That's the scoop! God love you all!
Therese

Why?
Planned Parenthood kills enough children every year to fill every Portland school over seven times. Planned Parenthood’s material is very graphic and destroys the purity of our children.

Disgraced Canadian Prelate Welcomed with Open Arms in the Archdiocese of Portland.
An article in the Catholic Sentinel this week Bishop of Vatican II Speaks.
No wonder Oregon Catholics are confused. With the welcome of Bishop Remi De Roo his lack of Truth to so many basic Church issues shows the disdain that the Archdiocese of Portland has for Rome and the Holy Father.
Retired Canadian Bishop Remi De Roo is also a teacher of the Enneagram, a gnostic way of thinking, very heady. There is only one True Teacher we need..there are endless lessons to learn and we are still in Spiritual pre-school in this Archdiocese.

VICTORIA, British Columbia, Nov. 8th, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The former Bishop of Victoria, Remi De Roo, has published a book of memoirs in which he relates two heated exchanges with Pope John Paul II and future-pope Cardinal Ratzinger over his divergences from Roman Catholic teaching.
Appointed Bishop of Victoria in 1962 at the age of 38, the 88-year-old De Roo has been one of Canada’s leading promoters of a “progressive” interpretation of Vatican II as one of the country’s last surviving Council fathers. He was the leading voice against Pope Paul VI’s Humanae vitae among Canada’s bishops, and has since traveled across North America for years giving talks as a “pilgrim of Vatican II.”
In Chronicles of a Vatican II Bishop, published in September by Novalis, De Roo recounts that he was called to Rome for a meeting with Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (now Pope Benedict XVI) over his advocacy of the female priesthood in a 1986 talk in Washington, D.C.
“This was not to be a joyous encounter,” he writes, according to the Western Catholic Reporter. “I was not alone in finding it galling to be treated like an errant schoolboy on what was supposed to be my ‘home turf.’”
He also recalls provoking a tense exchange with Pope John Paul II over the priesthood for married men as he and other bishops enjoyed a luncheon in the Pontiff’s dining room. He writes:
In his essay Tragedy at Winnipeg, Msgr. Vincent Foy relates that as the bishops prepared the disastrous Winnipeg Statement at the Fort Gary Hotel in September of 1968, it was Bishop De Roo above all who held out for the “right of freedom to follow conscience” in the contraceptive act, in contradiction to the pope’s reiteration of Catholic teaching that the act was intrinsically evil.
The Winnipeg Statement was the Canadian Catholic bishops’ official response to the publication Humanae Vitae.
He retired as Bishop of Victoria in 1999 after 37 years, but met disgrace a year later after it was revealed he had nearly bankrupted the diocese over failed investments in U.S. real estate, for which he had failed to obtain the requisite approval from the Vatican.
(VOCAL: check about the money. It could be cleared up..but that's the only thing.)

We were enjoying an open discussion of all sorts of topics. I was determined that one of them would be the ordination of mature married men. I was sitting next to the Pope, at his right hand. He attacked his food with gusto, pausing occasionally to hold his fork and knife upright in his hands. At one point, I suggested that we might consider the pastoral problems caused by the shortage of priests, particularly in remote areas like the ones represented by most of the bishops who were present at that luncheon.
He ignored my request by glancing to his left. The exchanges moved along; I waited for a second opportunity for a lull in the conversation. This time, speaking in French to make sure he would grasp every word, I carefully but directly faced him with the issue of our people being deprived of the Eucharist. Should we not call to ordination mature married men who could provide the spiritual nourishment that was so sorely lacking in areas deprived of clergy? He turned and glared at me, then banged deliberately on the table with his fist holding the knife handle. In a loud and emphatic tone of voice he declared, “Deus providebit!” (God will provide!). That was, sadly, the end of the exchange.Bishop De Roo’s memoirs include a foreword by Cardinal Jean-Claude Turcotte, who retired as head of the Archdiocese of Montreal in March after twenty-two years.

The Last #1 Choice for Archdiocese of Portland's New Shepherd
This is the final #1 choice for our new Shepherd. All my sources are most trustworthy and I pray this is my last #1 choice. If anything, these good men are faithful to the Holy Father and anyone of them would be stellar. We are indeed fortunate, at least for the Holy Father knowing what we need.
Bishop Michael Jackels (JOCK-ELS)
Bishop Jackels has NOT NOW in any way been announced IF this is our new Shepherd. The announcement for our new Archbishop should be emminent.
This is my best pick NOW. Maybe THIRD TIME will be the charm.
We would be blessed to have any one of these men as our Shepherd. It will not be long now for an official statement from the Archdiocese.
God Bless us all in this Holy Season. We await our new Shepherd and Our Savior.

For Real...Bill Diss VS Planned Parenthood
Here is a letter from Bill Diss of Precious Children of Portland who has some interesting developments he has allowed me to share with you.
Planned Parenthood thinks it can get away with anything. Let's pray that this gives them a reality check that they are not above the law.

Papal Smack Down!
"The Church’s Charitable Work Is Inseparable
from Her Work Of Proclaiming The Gospel!
The Church Must Offer Our Contemporaries
Not Only Material Assistance
But Care For Their Souls!”
In light of the ever growing scandal of Catholic organizations providing funding to organizations that are in direct conflict with Church teaching, Pope Benedict has issued a Motu Proprio (letter).
In his Motu Proprio, Pope Benedict makes it clear that he is not happy with the abuses involving some of the Catholic Church’s social justice organizations. The following are highlights of the Holy Father’s Motu Proprio concerning authentic charity.
Pope Benedict XVI-“The Church’s deepest nature is expressed in her three-fold responsibility: of proclaiming the word of God (kerygma-martyria), celebrating the sacraments (leitourgia) and exercising the ministry of charity (diakonia). These duties presuppose each other and are inseparable”
It is important, however, to keep in mind that “practical activity will always be insufficient, unless it visibly expresses a love for man, a love nourished by an encounter with Christ” (ibid., 34). In carrying out their charitable activity, therefore, the various Catholic organizations should not limit themselves merely to collecting and distributing funds, but should show special concern for individuals in need and exercise a valuable educational function within the Christian community, helping people to appreciate the importance of sharing, respect and love in the spirit of the Gospel of Christ.
The Church’s charitable activity at all levels must avoid the risk of becoming just another form of organized social assistance (cf. ibid., 31).
Nevertheless, to the extent that such activities are promoted by the Hierarchy itself, or are explicitly supported by the authority of the Church’s Pastors, there is a need to ensure that they are managed in conformity with the demands of the Church’s teaching and the intentions of the faithful, and that they likewise respect the legitimate norms laid down by civil authorities. In view of these requirements, it became necessary to establish in the Church’s law certain essential norms inspired by the general criteria of canonical discipline, which would make explicit in this sector of activity the legal responsibilities assumed by the various subjects involved, specifying in particular the position of authority and coordination belonging to the diocesan Bishop. At the same time, the norms in question need to be broad enough to embrace the significant diversity of the institutions of Catholic inspiration which are engaged as such in this sector, whether those originating from the Hierarchy or those born of the direct initiative of the faithful, received and encouraged by the local Pastors. While it was necessary to lay down norms in this regard, there was also a need to consider the requirements of justice and the responsibility of Bishops before the faithful, with respect for the legitimate autonomy of each institution.
The diocesan Bishop (cf. canon 134 § 3 CIC and canon 987 CCEO) exercises his proper pastoral solicitude for the service of charity in the particular Church entrusted to him as its Pastor, guide and the one primarily responsible for that service.
The diocesan Bishop encourages and supports the initiatives and works of service to neighbor in his particular Church, and encourages in the faithful the spirit of practical charity as an expression of the Christian life and sharing in the mission of the Church, as indicated in canons 215 and 222 CIC and 25 and 18 CCEO.
It is the responsibility of the diocesan Bishop to ensure that in the activities and management of these agencies the norms of the Church’s universal and particular law are respected, as well as the intentions of the faithful who made donations or bequests for these specific purposes (cf. canons 1300 CIC and 1044 CCEO).
To ensure an evangelical witness in the service of charity, the diocesan Bishop is to take care that those who work in the Church’s charitable apostolate, along with due professional competence, give an example of Christian life and witness to a formation of heart which testifies to a faith working through charity. To this end, he is also to provide for their theological and pastoral formation, through specific curricula agreed upon by the officers of various agencies and through suitable aids to the spiritual life.
It is the duty of the diocesan Bishop and the respective parish priests to see that in this area the faithful are not led into error or misunderstanding; hence they are to prevent publicity being given through parish or diocesan structures to initiatives which, while presenting themselves as charitable, propose choices or methods at odds with the Church’s teaching.

Gone Fishin': Archdiocese of Portland's Focus on CCHD.
For decades the Archdiocese of Portland has encouraged and provided for the wants of the anti-Catholic programs during the year and especially in November when there is the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) collections.
This romance with pro-abortion organizations taking collection plate monies from faithful Catholics could be considered criminal, since all facts are known. They know what they're doing and are accountable.
There is no way to stop those employed by Catholics except to fire them for dereliction of duty.

Operation Holy Night for Our Precious Infants: Success !
You are those who have continued with me in my trials
(Luke 22:24, RSV Edition, Harmony Media)
Dear Brothers and Sisters for Life, Purity and Healing,
I cannot thank all of you enough who came last week to the board meeting. We had over 200 people and we filled the auditorium and a great deal of the surrounding area. We will probably meet again in the future and there is room for 1000. Don't be shy and be ready to come and stand for life and purity.
I gave a message of healing. I could tell that one board member really seem to have an old injury on her heart. She was quoted in the Oregonian as saying the program is fine. Please, please pray for her.
I so want to thank all of you again and again for your prayers and for your time last Monday. Please continue to pray. There was another hearing last week and one this week at school. I have been directed to not work on multiplication tables with the students in my math class. Please pray for a miracle of how I can accomplish this without teaching it. This directive is so sad because when children learn to multiply it makes such a difference.
Please continue to pray for all those helping me, my lawyer James Leuenberger, my union representative, Kathi Koenig and a few other lawyers working in the background. Kathi did ask that people do not contact her. My lawyer specifically asked for prayers and he really appreciates all of you. He is a fine man of faith and so supportive of me both legally and emotionally.
God Bless,
Bill

Dear Brothers and Sisters for Life, Purity and Healing,
I wanted to thank you all again for your prayers and support. Monday, December 3, 2012 is the day that will go down in history where thousands came to a Portland Public School Hearing to stand for life and purity.
All children should have their purity respected and should be able to have a good education by certified teachers and have the opportunity to marry and have children. Unfortunately Portland Public Schools and Planned Parenthood have other plans. I just got a hold of the latest school report for this year and look how race fits into Planned Parenthood's plans? Can someone please tell me why this is not profiling?
Here is the time and location.
You may bring signs. Please read the following for types of signs. There are attachments with this for handouts. This will be the last weekend before the big meeting.
Change of Location for Fund Raiser
The Culture of Life Office of Knights of Columbus and Precious Children of Portland are sponsoring an advent wreath making party. You make make a wreath or purchase a wreath ($10.00 to $15.00). The new location is by a tree lot and you can also purchase a tree, garland, door wreaths, etc. If you want to have some Christmas treats and make a beautiful wreath please come to SW Macadam and Vermont St. In John's Landing. CCHD - "CHANGE AGENTS : Alinskyian Organizing among Religious Bodies"
Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins -- or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom -- Lucifer.
"CHANGE AGENTS : Alinskyian Organizing among Religious Bodies"
We are fortunate indeed to have a Catholic grassroots woman who, for decades, has kept a history of Saul Alinsky and his effect in our lives. This woman's name is Stephanie Block from New Mexico.
In 2007, many Oregonians participated in three workshops that she and VOCAL presented in Portland, Salem and Bend: "Justice in Pieces". You can still get a Powerpoint CD and handout that the members of the workshops received. This is a free gift so send VOCAL your address and it will be sent right out.
The name Saul Alinsky has been tied to the Catholic Church since the beginning and we still keep this mindset alive by our ignorance and trust. How can our Church leaders be so lost? Catholics and Christian denominations generate massive amounts of money, but more importantly lead the faithful astray and in Oregon the Earth Charter is sometimes the focus instead of the Catechism. (VOCAL has more posts about this..just enter "Earth Charter" in the front of the blog for this and any other question".

The Rules for Radicals
- RULE 1: “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood.
- RULE 2: “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone.
- RULE 3: “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty.
- RULE 4: “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.
- RULE 5: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.
- RULE 6: “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones.
- RULE 7: “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news.
- RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.
- RULE 9: “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist.
- RULE 10: “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog.
- RULE 11: “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem.
- RULE 12: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.
We can ask Stephanie Block to re-visit our state and have some quality time asking questions about Oregon and CCHD. Let your voice be heard. REFORM CCHD NOW
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you...sorry this is a little late.

Bishops Reject Left-Wing Agenda at Fall Conference Nov. 12-15
Bishops Reject Left-Wing Agenda
November 14, 2012
Bill Donohue comments as follows:
Last week, Catholic left-wingers felt emboldened. This week they are in despair. At the meeting of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Baltimore, the bishops once again committed themselves to the civil rights of the unborn, the defense of marriage, and the cause of religious liberty. Thus those Catholics who reject the Church’s teachings on abortion and marriage, and who support the anti-Catholic mandate being imposed by Health and Human Services, lost big time. Moreover, a vaguely worded document on the poor, which was not distributed to the bishops until they arrived at the meeting, was shot down.

Moreover, a vaguely worded document on the poor, which was not distributed to the bishops until they arrived at the meeting, was shot down.
It is important for the practicing-Catholic community—the only subset that really counts—to understand that there are any number of front groups out there who deceitfully use the Catholic label to advance their agenda. Three such entities that are condemning the bishops are Catholics for Choice, Catholics United, and Faithful America.
Catholics for Choice is the oldest of the anti-Catholic front groups—it is a creature of the Ford Foundation and has no members—and it told the bishops that they need to “realize the error of their ways.” There are two groups lecturing the bishops to “refocus their attention on caring for the poor and vulnerable” (by which they mean pushing for more welfare): Catholics United and Faithful America; the former was founded with seed money from atheist billionaire George Soros, and the latter is an online hybrid of another Soros-funded front group, Faith in Public Life.
Remember all those Catholic left-wingers who for years were singing the refrain about the need to achieve common ground? Some of us never believed them, and now at least one of them has admitted that this was a ploy all along. “It is said after every election that the victors should put politics aside and work for the good of the country,” wrote E.J. Dionne this week. Then he unloaded: “If President Obama believed this pious nonsense, he would put his second term in jeopardy.” Nice to know he does not want the president to “work for the good of the country.”

"TERNA, TERNA, TERNA...there is a Season, Turn, Turn, Turn"...new President, new Archbishop.
Well, things couldn't be more exciting. We are expecting a new President..and a new Archbishop
Interestingly enough The Byrds, singing group from the '60's, expresses the Bible's words from Ecclestiates 1 "To every thing, turn, turn, turn, there is a season, turn, turn, turn, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." etc. is a play on the word "terna".
TERNA: A list of three names submitted to the Holy See as candidates for a particular episcopal see; or a similar list given to the superior general of a religious institute for appointment or approval as provincial. the term always includes reasons pro and con for each of the recommended candidates. (Etym. Latin terni, three each; from ter, thrice.)
From VOCAL's latest comment two candidates for Archbishop are left and we have the two candidates who are running for President of the United States with America approving the winner. Our religious freedom is on the line in both cases.
Please free us O, Lord from the oppression of not being able to freely speak of You and Your Deposit of Faith even in our Churches. Thy Will be Done.
Here are two comments that I believe you should know about.

Dear Father,
Absolutely, I'm aware of the veracity of your words, certainly that is the usual procedure.
That is why it seems strange that another priest would have the idea that a long-time priest who is little more than a bureaucrat in the chancery (Fr. B) would be elevated. He is not even the most senior Vicar in the archdiocese now.
At the very most if Fr. B was going to be promoted, it would likely be as a Bishop not an Arch, and to a small See, probably without a major seminary and publishing company.
However, the tacit implication a few of us got in this conversation, which of course I admit is PURE speculation, is that there are "wheels within wheels" and "one hand washes the other" and this Fr. B may be a nobody on most Catholic radar screens, but has power and influence in his own way, and is a pet of Abp. Vlazny's.
Whatever, this is idle wondering, but I am just passing along what I heard from some pretty savvy people. I would not even have mentioned but it seems this particular story is already at the gossip level, so just sharing this idea.
But Fr. Anonymous, most likely you are correct and so is Carolyn. With the excellent appointments the Holy Father has been making, it would be hard to fathom this happening. Then again, ours is not to question why, ours is but to be surprised!

November 3, 2012 4:32 PM Whole post and comments. click. #1 Pick for New Archbishop of Portland
Today, November 4th, Feast day of St. Charles Borromeo who was the cardinal archbishop of Milan from 1564 to 1584. He was a leading figure during the Counter-Reformation and was responsible for significant reforms in the Catholic Church, ... Wikipedia, is our 45th wedding anniversary.
Election day, November 6th, Feast day of Saint Leonard patron of political prisoners, imprisoned people, prisoners of war, and captives, women in labour, as well as horses. Died: 559, is also my 65th Birthday.
You know what my birthday wish is. So do my grandchildren.

FLASH!
The Terna was presented. I cannot give names, sorry. All were questioned about "how they would handle the Fr. Angel Perez situation." One bishop was eliminated based on his response, which indicated passivity.
Now the decision is being made between the 2 remaining bishops.
Vlazny is already out, we can expect an announcement soon.
