As Bob Castagna exits the Oregon Catholic Conference - the Laity needs to enter political realm!

Dear Friends, The Body of Christ in Oregon will have to step out of their comfort zones even more as Bob Castagna leaves the Oregon Catholic Conference. For over twenty years he has been in charge of Oregon Catholic political life, advising the Bishops and lobbying in the Capitol. We wish him well. The laity will also have to take a more pro-active role as the ax falls on programs throughout the Archdiocese. Many people are already seeing the changes taking place. We are still spending a million dollars a month on attorneys because of the sex-abuse scandal and the "climate" where this was allowed to flourish has not diminished. Even with Pope Benedict's call to purity, we still have to deal with open rebellion: "welcoming" parishes, and our membership with the Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon and their leanings with pro-homosexual and pro-abortion-minded member churches. We need to do our own research into groups with the title "Catholic" allowed to be attached for a start. For example, "Koinonia Catholic Community" been around for decades in Oregon, their name changed since last year, to Journey Koinonia Catholic Community. www.journey-catholic.org You will be able to connect the dots yourself with EMO member churches and see how deep the "climate" is. www.basicrights.org will also help with these homosexual/abortion connections with churches, businesses, and political leaders in Oregon. These are not easy things to tell you, but they need to be told. Our Holy Father said that we will probably be a smaller Church, but we can keep our priorities straight and help eachother reach our Eternal Home. Let us pray for the groups that have lost their way. May they find the Divine Authority given His Holiness and the Magesterium a source of true freedom and not something to fight against. God grant us the gifts of the Holy Spirit - Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, and Piety, as we get more involved with the political and spiritual needs of our Oregon home and change the climate of our Church. May God Bless you and yours, Carolyn "Facts are stubborn things...our wishes, the dictates of our passions...cannot alter the facts and evidence."
