The first lay woman to serve as chancellor of a U.S. archdiocese, Tully has led many initiatives, including ecumenical and interfaith relations, service to religious communities, Catholic health care policy, propagation of the faith and missions support. Archbishop Alexander Sample made the announcement July 11, saying he had “a heavy but grateful heart.” The archbishop explained that Tully has offered “tremendous gifts” to the local church. “All of us owe Mary Jo our sincere and deep gratitude for all that she has done in serving Christ and His people,” the archbishop said, wishing Tully blessings. Tully, who holds advanced degrees in religious education and theology, formerly worked as head of faith formation in the Archdiocese of Chicago. She became a friend to Vietnamese Catholics of Oregon and Jews in the area. Both groups hold her in high esteem. |

Praise God!!!!!
My first message response from a friend was "Cue Handel's Messiah".
It was all in the Lord's perfect timing. It seemed to take a long time so when "it" happened it was pure joy in knowing He was in control.
Thanks for your comment.
WOW
"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass......it's about learning to dance in the rain!"
Hooray! Now maybe we can get extraordinary form Masses in our parishes!
Thanks be to God !!!
Thanks Carolyn!
God finally moved to our prayers, my friend.
HERE'S THE PERSON TO SAY GOODBYE. NO DOUBT SHE HAS HAD LOTS ON HER PLATE. BUT SHE IS GONE.
TOO BAD IT TOOK SO LONG..
“One of the great disadvantages of hurry is that it takes such a long time.”
― G.K. Chesterton, All Things Considered
So true.
Glad she is going!
Thank you for this
Ah, the politics of Religion! What I have trouble with is remembering that everthing happens in His time, and not so often ours.
God is good. He is listening. Perfect timing.
Finally !!!
Hallelujah!
Thought #1:
I hope she finds a good job so that her hordes of flying monkeys don't go hungry. Should we start donating bananas?
Thought #2:
Somebody finally dropped a house on MJ.
Thought #3:
Is anyone going to try to heal the wounds she caused?
Thought #4:
Thank God!
she better not be coming to Bend
Hmmm...lol
Ad hominem comments are disrespectful at best. They have no place in the life of a practicing Catholic. The comments on this site about our Chancellor's leaving the Archdiocese reveal far more about the character of the writers and nothing about the Chancellor. It is possible to post an informed opinion without cruelty. Please try.
Anonymous. The history of the retiring chancellor was known by practicing Catholics who had direct contact with her and commented on this site. The comments you feel are disrespectful and cruel exposes your ignorance of what the a chancellor's duties are and what they are not. The chancellor overstepped the duties of a chancellor. For this to have gone on for twenty-seven years shows what restraint was shown in the comments.
"Somebody finally dropped a house on MJ" is one example of the comments that have nothing at all to do with a serious critique of a person's performance. It is an ad hominem comment that has no place in such discussions, at least in a discussion that purports to be Catholic.
Yay! Good news!! Thanks for sharing. Love.
Anonymous,
Sometimes people need to saw things a little crazy to let off steam. Being under the thumb of someone loving a more liberal take on the Church and feeling superior to those who aren't should make you understand why this wasn't to your liking.
This little "ad hominem" remark could be was tame compared to hanging with liberal Democrats and being cozy with pro-abortion churches in EMO with now ex-chancellor Tully.
This is public forum whereas most betrayals of the compassion and love of Jesus Christ were private.
This is my opinion and my experience. Also, I have no knowledge of the author of the "remark", but I do know that if a house was headed nearby, she would be saved by Dave.
