Reform CCHD Now Update - National

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) will be starting its fall collection in November. Here is the latest nationally and there will be a local report soon. To get these updates you can go to www.reformcchdnow.org and sign up. We are a microcosm of this national macrocosm. For decades faithful Catholics have warned us of this attempt to divert our collection plate money to anti Catholic groups and not using our money wisely. We must use discernment in being a good steward. Michael Hichborn is director of the Reform CCHD Coalition. He is with American Life League (ALL).

Dear Reform CCHD Now member, I just wanted to take a moment to give you a few updates: 1) NYC AIDS Housing Network, one of the CCHD grantees profiled in the CCHD Grants Report, is no longer eligible for funding from the CCHD. It turns out that, even after the CCHD's "thorough vetting process," which gave a green-light to this group even after we gave CCHD all the evidence, they distribute condoms after all: http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/us-bishops-social-justice-arm-rejects-grantee-caught-distributing-condoms 2) The Reform CCHD Now website now has an FAQ that addresses the current claims being made by the CCHD: http://www.reformcchdnow.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=30&Itemid=16 3) The 2010-2011 Grants Report was reviewed by Moral Theologian, Dr. William Marshner, professor of theology at Christendom College. You can read his review here: http://www.reformcchdnow.com/media/Morality%20Review%20CCHD.pdf Also, Life Site News wrote up a fantastic article on this review, which you can read here: http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/moral-theologian-voices-concern-over-cchd-grant-process I will keep you updated as we continue to work toward fixing the problems. God Bless, Michael

A real solution to make sure faithful Catholics are treated with respect, there should only be a web page on the USCCB website listing the Bishops suggestions. This would remove any doubt we would have by giving money directly to the organization, doing our own research and not paying administrative/pr/mailing costs. Those flyers are very expensive and we want our money to build up the Body of Christ, only. “Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.” ~ Mother Teresa.
