Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can an evil tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit, shall be cut down, and shall be cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.

ALERT!!! Rally and Rosary at Cathedral in PDX on Sunday!!!!

For Immediate Distribution Rally and a Rosary at St. Mary Cathedral in Portland 10:30am May 17th in support of ND students protesting President Obama being honored at the University of Notre Dame commencement this Sunday. A Notre Dame Alumnus and others from a group of conservative Pro-Life Catholics calling itself Catholics4America will be holding a rally in solidarity with the Notre Dame students protesting the honoring of Pres. Obama at once devoutly Catholic university's commencement. Father Wolfe, the pastor of parish where the Rally and a Rosary will take place, St. Mary’s Cathedral in downtown Portland, has welcomed the group to share their message and say a the rosary at the Cathedral at 10:30am on Sunday morning May 17th. This time coincides with Pres. Obama giving the commencement address at Notre Dame in Indiana. One may well imagine the controversy and sadness this presents to our Catholic faith. Mass schedule allowing, Father Wolfe will try to join event, along with other invited Priests and Deacons from the area. He has asked if local Catholic laity would consider requesting a pulpit announcement to invite members of their own parish to join event. Archdpdx "Called to Protect" aka "Called to Infect" our Children? - WE DO HAVE A GREAT OPTION..

Dear Advocates for Life,

The Praesedium "Armatus" Called to Protect program used by the Archdpdx to help prevent sexual abuse of our children should raise red flags. For those who have expressed alarm, you're not alone (Praesidium 624 Six Flags Drive, Suite 110 Arlington, TX 76011 817.801.7773 800.743.6354 toll-free Praesudium for Archdiocese of Portland and US

* The senior Vice President of Praesedium, Jane C. Hickerson, Ph.D., has co-authored a book for the Gay, Lesbian, Transgendered etc. community. With her pro-homosexual activity promotion, according to the 'book review' below, it seems a poor choice for the USCCB and this Archdiocese. There are healthy options.

Affirmative Practice: Understanding and Working With Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Persons
by Ski Hunter and Jane C. Hickerson; Washington, D.C., NASW Press, 2003, 417 pages, $44.99

Jack Drescher, M.D.

Ski Hunter and Jane C. Hickerson are professor and assistant professor, respectively, in the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington. They have written Affirmative Practice: Understanding and Working With Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Persons as a textbook for "graduate and undergraduate ... students in applied human services fields (for example, social work, counseling, mental health, nursing, psychology, sociology, and education).
.......The volume is unapologetically gay affirmative, which is its major strength but sometimes a weakness. Although the book is statistically informative, the authors are less then dispassionate when they touch on the subject of violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals. The authors often speak with the voice of forceful authority, which may be necessary in a text intended to help students decide how to think about a culturally charged subject. However, it can leave naive readers little room to question some of the authors' conclusions. For example, they cite one study to support the claim that people who hold anti homosexual values are "less empathic" or use "denial, isolate or turn from others, or look for blame outside themselves." Even to this sympathetic reader, that sounds like overkill. END.

MORE RED FLAGS ON PRAESEDIUM

* Children are NOT the problem. Parents should be educated and in turn help their children. This is Church Teaching.
* There is no solid Catholic componants to this program, Catholic dollars should be used to build up the Body of Christ, not the coffers of non-Catholics with questionable motives.

"Armatus covers sensitive material, including sexual and physical abuse. If you find the content disturbing, please discuss your concerns with your supervisor. Thank you for your commitment to protecting those in your care." From the website. If a child is exposed to this information and traumatized or has been abused and things "come out" ....the Archdiocese of Portland has no Catholic therapists or counselors available to cover this breech of innocence. Families are left on their own. This information received directly from the Child Protection Office.

It's important to be "in compliance" because of the homosexual scandal , but this program isn't better than the last the secular "Committee for Children" begun by advocates for prostitutes and also still used by some dioceses as an "in compliance" alternative.

****************************************************************************

Parents, here is - A Moral Option guaranteed to be in compliance with Church Teachings. Created by Most Reverend Robert F. Vasa, Diocese of Baker, Oregon and his excellent team of Catholic professionals.

HEALTHY FAMILIES - SAFE CHILDREN - The Power of Relationships.

www.securechild.org is the website.

Here are clips of the lessons. They are great for parents and just to learn about prayer, love and how a Catholic family grows into a healthy place to be. For twenty short clips to help families, and keep children safe:

Bishop Vasa and Panel of Healthy Families: Safer Children

*******************************************************************************

The public schools accept that parents might want to "opt-out" their children from these types of programs. Two years ago after a meeting at the Pastoral Center, I had a question for Cathy Shannon, the Child Protection Director, about parents "opting out" their children of these "safe environment" programs. She told me there was NO opt out for children and directed me to Mr. Bob Mizia, school superintendent to ask why no opting out like public schools allow.

When I mentioned to his secretary the reason for my wanting a meeting was to have a forum of concerned Catholics to discuss the safe environments/opting out issues, she forced me to leave the Pastoral Center, "escorting me out". The reason for this rude action...."The Lawsuit"..aka bankruptcy. Hmm. Church teaching says that parents are the first teachers and they should be encouraged to be great parents. They should be respected for this vocation.

This is why I'm adding the affirmation of personal faith. Something we need to enforce or lose our children to an alternative Catholic faith with no foundation, and to also enforce our right to have those who live off of our collection plate actually believe in the True Catholic faith, not what they want it to be. The programs we pay for should also reflect this faith.

Remember, we still have NO Pro-life Budget in the Archdpdx: no protection for our youngest Oregon Catholic children subject to the ultimate child abuse. Archdpdx 503-234-5334.

Jesus says. "But he that shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be drowned in the depth of the sea."
Matthew 18:6

Beaverton Babies & 40 Days for Life/Oprah/Divine Mercy/Action Item

Dear Advocates for Life, Enjoy these photos of the Beaverton babies who brought their moms to fight for the right to life of their peers during 40 Days for Life. They joined the great team of dedicated workers for Life Thanks to these dedicated moms who show us that the future of the pro-life movement will continue until hearts and minds are opened as they teach their children well. Thanks to all who stood up for life around the state during these 40 Days and also when you are standing alone. ************************************************************************************************* Wonders never cease...now we have Oprah..our new pro-life lobbyist, she must have heard about our trouble with Roger Martin. Here's the link. Dr. Oz is explaining stems cells with Michael J. Fox, who was recently elated with Obama's tax payer funding for this "dead issue". http://www.oprah.com/media/20090319-tows-dr-oz-brain If you have a problem, just google - oprah dr. oz stem cells. For those who have forgotten, Roger Martin is the Oregon Catholic Conference lobbyist who voted to legalize abortions and voted against parental/spousal notification when he was a legislator in 1969 and 1973. If you'd like me to re-send legislative records of this, please just ask. Remember we still have NO BUDGET for the Pro-Life Office. ***************************************************************************************************** Jesus asked that the Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded by a Novena to the Divine Mercy which would begin on Good Friday. He gave St. Faustina an intention to pray for on each day of the Novena, saving for the last day the most difficult intention of all, the lukewarm and indifferent of whom He said: "These souls cause Me more suffering than any others; it was from such souls that My soul felt the most revulsion in the Garden of Olives. It was on their account that I said: 'My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass Me by.' The last hope of salvation for them is to flee to My Mercy." University of Portland Scandal joins Notre Dame's

Dear Advocates for Life, The University of Portland run by the same order of priests as Notre Dame, Holy Cross, and has a scandal of it's own. http://www.teamportland-tennis.org/ "Team Portland Tennis is proud to serve the Portland Metro area in promoting tennis in the gay and lesbian community. NEW!! OR group: Catholics4America and Father Cihak's RTL e-News

Dear Advocates for Life, Here is some wonderful news. Given the commission by our Lord to evangelize, there are many great folks who love Him enough to take a stand on a volunteer basis and bring his Culture of Life and Love and sanity to Oregon. Catholics4America, an awesome, enthusiastic team, expertly facilitated by Kevin Hoar, meets every other Sunday. To join this group...please email Kevinhoar@yahoo.com to introduce yourself. They are planning to have a Catholic lobby day at the Capital, something we need since our lobbyist seems to know very little about fighting for innocent human life, or the innocence of those living. This group is active and ready to meet you. It will seem like you're in heaven. There is a meeting every other Sunday and March 15th is a meeting date, so get involved, now. The Respect Life Office has no budget in the Archdiocese of Portland, yet those who don't even support innocent human life with OUR COLLECTION PLATE money and voted for the most pro-abortion man elected still know that it always is good for a financial campaign. (this is my opinion, not that of the Respect Life office...sorry) SO, saving the unborn, elderly and innocense of Oregon Catholic citizens is done by the laity. Diane and Mary do a beautiful job with this pro-life e-newsletter. Please note the red letter campaign and the wonderful Oregon Right to LIfe Convention that is only $25 for those who mention this newsletter. We also have Marie Barzen, Cheri Crocker, Bill Diss who are coordinating 40 Days for LIfe. Bill and Precious Children of Portland need our support. They don't get funding, to my knowledge from the Archdiocese of PDX either. Contact Diane so that you can get these inspiring reminders and updates on so many people who follow the teachings of the Church and love our Lord. Email dnforjesus@gmail.com Just a note on the red letter campaign and why it is STILL important. Even though FOCA is not a bill, it can pass through in one week very easily. Our Bishops DID start the postcard campaign late although they knew about it for years. We can surmise that the wanted Obama to win and whatever their reason for not responding sooner, this tends to make most of us sick. Daily we see years of sacrifice to save the helpless overturned by Obama, their messiah? Now we have to clean up the mess of these "gnostic" Catholics who seem to follow the party line more than Our Lord's teachings in His Holy Roman Catholic Church. So, the Bishops were late AND only three postcards were sent. This happened when the Bishops finally got on board with the Partial Birth Abortion Ban postcard campaign during Bill Clinton's administration. THEY FORGOT THE FOURTH POSTCARD TO THE PRESIDENT. The president can veto, so he is the last word in the long line of legislative voting. So we need to send SOMETHING to the President. SO...the red postcard campaign does get their attention, gets us to participate in the process, remember we are already paid ACORN through the Campaign for Human Development to shot ourselves in the foot. SO...let's get our priorites straight. We need to be faithful and leave the success up to the Lord. As Diane, the editor of this says.....All for Jesus! Whether we have been doing this for years, or just start...it's All For Jesus. We are in this together. You are NOT alone. God Bless you and yours, Carolyn Jesus said to them, "My food is to do the will of the one who sent me and to finish his work. Do you not say, 'In four months the harvest will be here'? I tell you, look up and see the fields ripe for the harvest. The reaper is already receiving his payment and gathering crops for eternal life, so that the sower and reaper can rejoice together. For here the saying is verified that 'One sows and another reaps. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for; others have done the work, and you are sharing the fruits of their work."

Archdpx Appeal Money Promotes Embryonic Stem Cell Research at Capitol

Dear Advocates for Life,

Before I write to the Archbishop and Mary Jo Tully, who hired Roger Martin, our Oregon Catholic Conference lobbyist, I need to let you know what happened this week at the Capitol.

Both people recruited by Roger Martin to speak against HB 2598 the Embryonic Stem Cell Bill, were FOR IT!!!! One was a student from Central Catholic High School, Jake Guth. To hear his testimony from Tuesday log on 2009 Session...

Listen at the Legislature Sustainability and Economic Development
3/3/09 Go to 1:08:17 to hear Jake Guth.

The pro-embryonic stem-cell testimony of today, Thursday, has yet to be archived. Roger Martin testified against the bill, saying that the Catholic Church was against it, but gave NO reasons to embolden the reason. His recruits had lots of reasons in SUPPORT of the bill.
He did no research, and seems not to care. Why did Mary Jo Tully hire him?

Catholic collection plate money from the Archbishop's Catholic Appeal pays Martin's salary. Almost $40,000 from the Appeal goes to the Oregon Catholic conference. Maybe those that testified received our money too. Remember that the Respect Life Office still has NO BUDGET. This in itself is amazing since the Archbishop gives pro-life speeches.

Why don't we have any funds to save children from the hands of abortionists and their mothers from a life believing that there are no other options. It seems that the Catholic Church in Oregon holds no hope for the unborn from those who hold the pursestrings.

God Bless you and yours,
Carolyn

Give not that which is holy (appeal money?) to dogs; neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest perhaps they trample them under their feet, and turning upon you, they tear you.

Holy Communion: Poison for Some?

Ash Wednesday I was late for noon mass and ended up in the vestibule, so I could see who was going up for Holy Communion. I noticed Senate President Peter Courtney, known as a NARAL supporter, going up the center aisle.

I watched and he was given Our Lord in the Eucharist and went back to his seat. I have known him and his position for twenty-five years since our children went to first grade together but maybe he had changed his position. To avoid assumption, as he was leaving, I held out my hand which he hesitantly took, saying, "Hello Peter, do you still support abortion rights?"..."yes, I do." My next question was...."Then why did you just receive Communion?" As he pulled his hand away, and hurriedly left, I followed him and asked, "Why did you put Father in such a position? ....Why are you bringing scandal to others." He walked back to the Capitol. I told the priest that he hadn't changed his ways.

To not speak to Peter Courtney would have been a sin of omission for me. We need to protect the Lord and the person. Some clerics say that "they would never withhold" Holy Communion from anyone, but it that a loving thing to do?

When we joined the Church, we weren't allowed to Receive and were even taken out of Church before the Liturgy of the Eucharist began. This lasted from November until April. There was pain involved but a chance to learn and love the Source and Summit of our Faith. It was a loving act for us not participate until we were in union with the Church.

After the Ash Wednesday event, it became very clear to me, that for a priest to give Our Lord, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity to someone like Peter Courtney, is actually giving him POISON. To say, "oh he/she might have changed their mind" isn't enough anymore. They need to read the Holy Scriptures and not condemn themselves by giving them Holy Communion...it's very clear.

Our Lord can bring Grace to those who receive "worthily" and a curse/poison to those who receive "unworthily". Politicians who have changed their minds on abortion need to publicly announce their conversion, since their abortion views were known publicly and they used their political power to kill children through abortion.

The laity has to be open for the Lord to ask US to protect our brothers and sisters in Christ, both laity and religious. To have these "opportunities" and not act is a sin of omission. Just open your mouths and He'll give you the words, it's scary, only when you think about it and let doubt/Satan creep in.

Happy Lent

I Corinthians 11
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes.
27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will have to answer for the body and blood of the Lord.
12 28 A person should examine himself,
13 and so eat the bread and drink the cup.
29 For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgment 14 on himself.
30 That is why many among you are ill and infirm, and a considerable number are dying.

**Alert** Lenten Quest Program Leading Faithful Astray....

Dear Advocates for Life, Thank you to Oregon Catholic Citizens for this important reminder. The Archdpdx has many programs that, under the guise of helping Catholics, actually leads them away from the Good Shepherd. We need to keep our spiritual "radar" up in these times..not take things given to us in Church as "gospel" and remember the four last things this Lent: Death, Judgement, Heaven and Hell. God Bless you and thanks again to Oregon Catholic Citizens, oregoncatholiccitizens@gmail.com Carolyn ******************************************************************************************8 Dear Friends, We understand a parish in this archdiocese will be using the QUEST study program again this Lent. This program encourages small faith communities to replace the Church and break down the relationship between the laity and true Church leadership from Rome. QUEST is listed as a 'Catholic' dissenting group. See Human Life International's just released report "Exposing Church Dissenters!"; the list exposes over 180 'Catholic' dissenting groups. http://www.renewamerica.us/columns/abbott/090201 Any one who goes ahead and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God; he who abides in the doctrine has both the Father and the Son. If any one comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into the house or give him any greeting; for he who greets him shares his wicked work. 2 John 1:9-11 __________________________________________________________________________ What is QUEST and What are Small Christian Communities? Excerpts from the book "Creating Small Church Communities" by Arthur R. Baranowski Pastoring the 'Pastors' The Small Church Community is really a church. Therefore, that church needs a pastor! The term carefully chosen at St. Elizabeth Seton to designate the pastoral leader of the small community is pastoral facilitator. The "PF" is often a couple, especially if the small community is mostly couples. The word facilitator in this title refers to the PF's being at the service of the other members of the group, helping them relate to each other, keeping the group true to its purpose. The critical presumption is that the Holy Spirit speaks in each person in the small community and through each person for the others. Thus the small community's PF (like the parish's pastoral staff) need not necessarily be the wisest, holiest or most articulate. The leader, in fact, works at not being the expert - the person everyone else addresses comments toward, the one giving approval. The facilitator is also not the problem-solver, not the counselor, not the teacher. Rather, the facilitator insures an environment where all members of the group can contribute to each other and where each person takes responsibility for the rest. The church always fails when only one person tries to take care of the community. The very term facilitate means to bring out the best already present in people through a process of interaction. Thus the small community's leader facilitates communication. The pastor of the Catholic Small Church Community does what the parish's canonical pastor or the bishop does: enable each person to bring his or her gifts to the entire group, help people in the church listen to each other, keep the vision of church before the members, connect this level of church to the other levels of church. These elements, while not blatantly designed into the Encuentro 2000 Conference, were nevertheless a very real part of its activities, as evidenced by at least one speaker, one sponsoring organization, by the documents of the past Encuentros, and by a number of Encuentro workshops, providing a clue as to what has deeply disturbed conference critics, namely that the laudable conference goal of ethnic harmony -- at least within the Church herself -- will be swallowed by a darker goal, the destruction of the essential elements that are Catholicism. Lent 2009 - Goodbye Father Cihak/Hello Mother Clare/40 Days of Prayer for Life and ACTION.

The Congregation of Bishops in Rome has tapped our Father John Cihak, director of the UNBUDGETED Respect Life Office, to work with them in Rome.

His holy boldness in speaking up for the Truth of the Catholic Church could not be contained in Oregon, nor in my opinion, appreciated. Father Cihak was almost always the only "collar" at pro-life activities and had a ready "fiat" to help the helpless. Pray for us Father.

From Wikipedia; The Congregation for Bishops (Congregatio pro Episcopis) is the congregation of the Roman Curia which oversees the selection of new bishops that are not in mission territories or those areas that come under the jurisdiction of the Congregation for the Oriental Chuches who deal with the Eastern Catholics, pending papal approval.

It also schedules the papal audiences required quinquennially for bishops and arranges the creation of new dioceses. The Congregation for Bishops has its origins in the "Congregation for the Erection of Churches and Consistorial Provisions" founded by Pope Sixtus V on January 22, 1588. Before the Second Vatican Council, when the pope was announcing the names of new cardinals at a Secret Consistory (that is when, emperors, kings, princes or electors of the Holy Roman Empire were not present), the names of the newly appointed cardinals would be read out then those of Bishops and Archbishops were also announced.

This is the reason why, until 1967, the congregation now known as Congregation for Bishops was called Sacred Consistorial Congregation. Its current Prefect is Giovanni Battista Cardinal Re, and its secretary Archbishop Francesco Monterisi who is concurrently Secretary of the College of Cardinals. Thse offices have been held together since 1965. Reverend John Cihak Sacred Heart Parish PO Box 236 Gervais OR 97026 503-792-4231

Bill Diss Follow-up and related VOCAL Reminder to look for "wolves" getting HIS money..

ear Advocates for Life, Thank you for responding to the plea for Bill Diss. Here's his response to us. ************************************************************************************************ Dear Most Gracious Friends for Life and Purity, I want to thank all of you for your letters of support. I received copies of many of them and they really helped boost my confidence as I went to Salem today. I was extra blessed as a fellow from northeast Portland drove me down there as my knees still are not working well. Two fellow brothers from the Knights of Columbus were there to provide moral support. It was so beautiful as people of different faiths prayed together before Mr. Ortiz and Mr. Finch came into the room. What can I say but thank you and thank you .... and God Bless you ..... My lawyer had researched the laws they were trying to charge me with and he did a great job asking Mr. Finch and Mr. Ortiz to be a little more specific as to the charges. My lawyer did not want me to speak but they told us that this could be used against me, so I had to speak. Mr. Finch first mentioned that we had delayed the interview for three months and that usually a union lawyer is provided. I helped him on his counting since Mr. Ortiz did not get back to me until January 5, 2009 and that it was now just February 18, 2009. Mr. Finch and Mr. Ortiz were very vague on exactly what the charges were and I asked to see the complaint and it was very different from what he told me and was different from the initial letter. My attorney emphasized the differences to them. It was not even clear if Planned Parenthood filed the charges and when I asked him about this he got very upset and quickly put the paper back in his folder. We also brought down some more letters of support and Mr. Finch did not really want to take them and he exclaimed, "I received about 70, that YOU told people to write." I with I could say more but both my lawyer and myself are still a bit mystified of exactly what TSPC is trying to do. It appears that the matter is still under investigation and once I find out more I will share this with you. Thank you for prayers and support, Bill Diss 503-334-6183 ******************************************************************************************************* FROM THE VOCAL ARHIVES May 15, 2007 www.vocalnews.org Dear Friends, In www.preciouschildrenofportland.com 's fight against Planned Parenthood and the abortion site in a minority neighborhood, we found that Bertha Ferran was on the board of Catholic Charities, NOW we find that Charles Wilhoite, another Portland Development Commissioner is on the Board of Directors of Jesuit High School according to his bio. Bertha Ferran stepped down from the Catholic Charities board, we hope that Mr. Wilhoite will do the same from Jesuit, they need to be in union with the Church on the issue of abortion. At a Portland Development Commission meeting Mr. Wilhoite didn't want to look at the Planned Parenthood material shown during testimony by a concerned citizen. According to Precious Children of Portland....... Call Charles Wilhoite, commissioner who stated that the book used by Planned Parenthood was porn, but likes the idea of letting Planned Parenthood teach very graphic sex from that book to our 10 year old daughters. Stand up for Life/Bill Diss NOW: Special Prayers & Actions Requested

Dear Advocates for Life, Here is a forward from Janice Donahue, who put together the Life is Sacred Conference last year, who puts into words what's going on in a nutshell, thanks Janice. Please send a fax, make a phone call, or whatever the Dear Lord moves you to do in an effort to help Bill in his hour of need. Information below. God Bless, Carolyn ********************************************************************************************************************** Dear Friends, As you may know, Bill Diss has nearly single handedly led the fight against planned parenthood's new mega-abortion clinic on MLK Blvd. THat's in his private life. In his working life, he is a high school teacher for Portland Public Schools. He keeps those parts of his life separate, but planned parenthood is a dirty fighter. No surprise, they've had dirty hands since the beginning of their formation. Now they want to get Bill Diss in trouble in his teaching career. We know Portland is ruled by forces that do not appreciate the sacredness of human life. The union supports Bill and last I knew, we still had First Amendment rights. Would you please consider saying such, or whatever you think best, to support BIll? Time is of the essence. They've rushed a hearing on him for this Wednesday. Our voices must be heard. Thanks, Janice Begin forwarded message: From: Bill Diss Date: February 16, 2009 2:57:29 PM PST To: Bill Diss Subject: Special Prayers & Actions Requested Beloved, I hope and pray all is well with you. * I could use some prayers and special help as Planned Parenthood has filed charges against me to try and get my teaching license revoked. I have to appear before the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009 at 4:30pm. Planned Parenthood likes teachers to be more like this and of course one of their supporters, Charles Wilhoite, is very involved at Jesuit High. They are also very involved with the little children in Eugene. My lawyer has recommended that you folks write letters of support for me. I apologize for this diversion. Our project is about the babies and our youth and not about me, but nevertheless I need a little extra help. My hearing is Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 4:30pm. If you could send letters to the following: George Finch Coordinator of Professional Practices Teacher Standards and Practices Commission 465 Commercial St NE Salem, OR 97301-3414 Phone: (503) 373-1192 Fax: (503) 378-3758 George.T.Finch@state.or.us The letters or faxes need to arrive by Wednesday. If you send out the letter by late Monday or early Tuesday it should arrive at TSPC by Wednesday. My lawyer is really concerned that the starting point is that I am guilty. The following exchange shows TSPC's attitude: (My letter sent: Sunday, February 01, 2009 5:59 PM) Dear Mr. Ortiz, I have been very ill lately with some arthritis in my knees and was out for the last week. One of my fellow teachers thinks I should just send you a short email of what happened that day. I like his idea as travel is difficult for me. If you still would like to meet me and my attorney, could you give me your available dates in February and then I can check my schedule and my attorney. God Bless You, Bill Diss 503-334-6183 (TSPC's response sent: Monday, February 02, 2009 8:39 AM) Mr. Diss, Your teacher friend is not under investigation - you are. The Commission and/or its representative (me in this case) will notify you as to when, where and how you may answer the complaint against you. In this case, an interview with a Commission investigator, me. It's your choice to participate or not. But remember what I wrote in my notification letter to you: "If you or your attorney do not contact me within the requested time period, you may be charged with failure or refusal by an educator under investigation to respond to requests for information or participate in interviews with a Commission representative (OAR 584-020-0040). .... Emphasis added. (My response sent: Monday, February 02, 2009 1:05 PM) Dear Mr. Ortiz, The purpose of the last letter was to try and contact you set up a time. If you could give me your dates and then I will check with my attorney on his dates and then we can all meet. God Bless You, Bill Diss 503-334-6183 My lawyer then tried to get information from them and here is part of the exchange: TSPC: I'd like to address some of your questions and suggestions. At this point in the process all investigation materials "are confidential and not subject to public inspection unless the commission makes a final determination that the person charged has violated ORS 342.143 or 342.175." Lawyer: I am not going to examine the investigation materials as a member of the public. I am going to examine the investigation materials as Mr. Diss' attorney. My lawyer then set up a date of February 18, 2009 after school and then TSPC sent the following email: Dear Mr. Leuenberger, Mr. Diss, Due to a miscommunication between our office and our counsel at the Department of Justice, a subpoena was issued for Mr., Diss's appearance at our office for February 27. As we have already arranged an interview for the earlier date of Wednesday February 18, 2008, at 4:30pm, we will meet on that date, and not the February 27th date. Thank you, George Finch Folks if you could send letters in support of my morals, I would certainly appreciate it. More on Peninsula Plumbing I think most of you know that Planned Parenthood has picked Peninsula Plumbing to put in the special plumbing required for disposing of those precious little babies. As one owner of multiple abortion centers stated, "The clinics in Dallas use disposals so none of those crazy Pro-Lifers will come and get them out of the trash anymore and bury them the way they did... when the babies are so big they don't come apart like the others. Their muscle structure is strong that the heads come off from the body, and you can't dispose of those in the disposal." (More Information). He said, "There was a judge in a certain town who neither feared God nor respected any human being. And a widow in that town used to come to him and say, 'Render a just decision for me against my adversary. 'For a long time the judge was unwilling, but eventually he thought, 'While it is true that I neither fear God nor respect any human being, because this widow keeps bothering me I shall deliver a just decision for her lest she finally come and strike me.'" The Lord said, "Pay attention to what the dishonest judge says. Will not God then secure the rights of his chosen ones who call out to him day and night? Will he be slow to answer them? I tell you, he will see to it that justice is done for them speedily. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?" Luke 18:1-8 Sign at Site "Sustainable Solutions" For Whom ????

Archdpdx Lobbyist voted to LEGALIZE ABORTION / Sample Letter to Balance the Scales of Justice

Dear Advocates for LIfe,

During the 2007 Legislative Session VOCAL reported that Roger Martin, the replacement lobbyist for long
time Oregon Catholic Confererence's Bob Castagna, voted to legalize abortion when he was a legislator in 1969. Abortion became legal in Oregon after that vote.

OR Catholics Silenced on LIFE
In 1970, Martin sponsored a bill to bar husbands or parents from being informed when an abortion was to be performed on the wife/child. That bill failed, but how responsible is he for the fact that we now have NO parental notification? There has been no confirmation from the Archdiocese or fellow lobbyists that he has changed his views.

The Respect Life Office has NO slice of the Archbishops Catholic Appeal (ACA) and has had no budget allocated for many years. It seems incomprehensible that Roger Martin was hired again and according to the ACA pie chart receives 1% of the $3,6400.00 or $36,400. http://www.archdpdx.org/appeal/

The "Imitation of Christ" Appeal title has justice for unborn children, the elderly and vulnerable eclipsed by justice for the environment and other non-foundational issues that are budgeted with 3% of the Appeal Funds or $109,200 through the Office of Justice and Peace.
http://www.archdpdx.org/justice_and_peace/

Because of the frustration from information about the lack of justice for innocent human life, I was asked to put together a sample letter to the Archdiocese. This is just to get people started.

This sample letter will be attached with the timeline for the Appeal, intercessions and scripts to use at mass. All these "reminders" cost money and last year it was almost $350,000 just to get it done. Eleven to twelve babies are killed through abortion each day in Oregon. How many Catholic babies are in these numbers? How many babies would this "reminder" money save? Something's very wrong.

God Bless you and yours,
Carolyn

"A New Scandal Brewing in Portland Archdiocese?" The Tip of the Iceberg?

Dear Advocates for Life, VOCAL is passing on this information with the authors okay.

============================

"Many of us have been treated in this same harsh manner from the Archdiocese of Portland. And, in this instance there seems to be little from the Archdiocese to make this fellow Catholic believe that anything will be done about this new scandal. He has agreed to share this with you for this reason alone.

This information exposes many issues on accountability and Christ-like behavior that seems to be missing. More will be revealed as investigation proceeds.

As you see, district attorneys are involved. Mishandling of our collection plate monies might also be an issue, as is a cover-up. Included are two emails, a copy of the Oregon Corporations Non-Profit information and the applicable Code of Canon laws 1740 and 1741 below. "A New Scandal Brewing in Portland"

My dear brother Knights, KAST will be airing even more "revelations" regarding Fr. Ted at 8AM tomorrow morning. This afternoon I had a unbelievable conversation with Bud Bunce the official spokesman for the Archdiocese. So much so that I decided to write to Bill O'Reilly to ask him to look into this scandal. Yes, this is a scandal. Fr. Ted's now self-admitted relationship with Antonia Valdes and his covering it up and lying to his parish is scandal.

The renewal of their relationship while he was preparing for ordination and the forming of a non profit in 2003 that is now the focus of Archdiocesan and Criminal investigations and his admission, from the pulpit, that Antonia Valdes is not really the nun that he himself told people she was is so fraught with the conditions that can cause scandal and grave harm to the Church that the conditions required for removal in Canon Laws 1740 and 1741 cannot be ignored.

But the Archdiocese has decided that this is nothing more than an accounting issue. As you read my letter to O'Reilly pay attention to what Mr. Bunce said they would say about me. This is from the Public Spokesman for our Archdiocese.

In effect, we'll destroy you. The plain and simple situation is that the Archdiocese is not going to admit that they ignored the pleadings of the parishioners for at least two years about these issues. Witness my rebuff from the Superintendent of Education last year. Mr. Bunce told me that they had no idea that parishioners were upset about these problems. What CRAP. Well, if this becomes a national story with all the horrible consequences that will follow, you can look directly at the Chancellery in Portland for the answer as to why.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, has been learned since we went bankrupt. I ask that you pray that the Archbishop will come to his senses and end this ordeal for our brothers and sisters at St. Mary, Star of the Sea. Second Email to Bill O'Reilly To: oreilly@foxnews.com Sent: Sunday, February 01, 2009 6:07 PM Subject: A New Scandal Brewing in Oregon Archdiocese?

Bill, I know you were very involved in the Boston Archdiocese situation and the poor handling of the scandals. It seems the Archdiocese of Portland has not learned much since the sex scandals that forced it into bankruptcy. The Daily Astorian on Friday, Jan 30, reported the Clatsop County District Attorney has opened an investigation into allegations of financial irregularities at St Mary, Star of the Sea Parish that appear to involve the Pastor's relationship with a mystery "nun" at the parish. It now transpires that the "nun" is not a nun but a woman with whom the Pastor had a relationship with prior to his entering a seminary in 1998.

It is alleged that they set up a non profit organization called "Nuestro Futuro" (A New Future) and that parish funds in the tens of thousands of dollars were given to this organization. Allegations are that up to half a million dollars, including bequeathals, may be involved. Parishioners and persons involved with the school tried without success for up to two years to get the Archdiocese to look into these problems.

The Archdiocese did nothing. It was not until it was discovered that the Pastor had gone to his family and obtained $23,000 to cover funds he had "borrowed". Last July I personally asked the Archdiocesan Superintendent of Schools to look into the financial affairs of the parish school. He actually told me he was tired of the subject and didn't want to talk about it! The local radio station KAST (Tom Freel) reported in two articles on its website some sordid details pertaining to the Pastor and the "nun". The Archdiocese has actually relieved the Pastor of his financial responsibilities but has unbelievably decided to keep him as Pastor until July or, get this, until he is indicted!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, that was the message the Parochial Vicar delivered to the Parish Council on Friday night. Can you imagine going to Mass and having to receive the sacraments from this Pastor under these circumstances? The parish and school are in meltdown. The priest rebuked the parishioners today from the pulpit and blamed "vindictive" school parents for the his problems. He then amazingly told the congregation that, no, the "nun" really wasn't a nun but she was a "Sister of God" and that the parishioners should not judge their hearts (???????!!!!!!!!!!)

People walked out of the church literally in shock. I called the Archdiocesan spokesman, Bud Bunce, and asked him how long the Archdiocese was going to let this go on. Why doesn't the Archbishop get him out of the parish? He then told me in a condescending manner that there are "procedures" that have to be followed and that I didn't understand Canon Law. I asked if there might be some "procedures" that could be invoked in emergency cases. (There are. See Canon Law 1740 and 1741). He said the Archdiocese is not considering this an emergency case. One wonders what in this Archdiocese would constitute an emergency.

Business as usual, I suppose, in Portland. I then said you guys are just begging for O'Reilly to come in on this. He said fine, call O'Reilly, we'll call you a nut. I then asked him if the Archdiocese was aware of the allegations of the KAST reporter and he said "What allegations"? I said you don't know about the KAST allegations? I asked him what planet are you living on? I said Its all over the town. I then told him of what KAST had reported. While he was telling me that the Archdiocese was doing everything it could on the matter he wasn't even aware of the explosive nature of these allegations. I said you've got to be kidding.

He then said "We don't pay attention to stuff like that". Then he hung up on me. ( I'll admit I was very agitated with his blasé attitude). Bill, I'm not making this up. Can you imagine an Archdiocese that just went through hell on the sex scandals allowing something like this to play out the way it is doing now? I'm the grandparent of students in the school and a member of the neighboring parish. My admission of this to Mr. Bunce elicited a remark to the effect that it was then none of my business. I know this is about a small parish in Oregon. But it appears that nothing has changed here in the Archdiocese of Oregon. I think a harsh dose of sunlight may be necessary.

Read the Astorian article and absolutely read the articles on the KAST website (coastwatch.blogspot.com). If you then have interest, I will gladly fill you in what is going on here and the principals in the matter. Somebody has to hold these people accountable. The school's teachers may walk out tomorrow.

Long time Fourth degree Knights have decided to leave the parish. This story has long, long legs. It is not really about a parish. It is about an Archdiocese.

SECTION II: THE PROCEDURE FOR THE REMOVAL OR TRANSFER OF PARISH PRIESTS (Cann. 1740 - 1752) CHAPTER I : THE PROCEDURE FOR THE REMOVAL OF PARISH PRIESTS Can. 1740 When the ministry of any parish priest has for some reason become harmful or at least ineffective, even though this occurs without any serious fault on his part, he can be removed from the parish by the diocesan Bishop.

Can. 1741 The reasons for which a parish priest can lawfully be removed from his parish are principally: 1° a manner of acting which causes grave harm or disturbance to ecclesiastical communion; 2° ineptitude or permanent illness of mind or body, which makes the parish priest unequal to the task of fulfilling his duties satisfactorily; 3° the loss of the parish priest's good name among upright and serious-minded parishioners, or aversion to him, when it can be foreseen that these factors will not quickly come to an end 4° grave neglect or violation of parochial duties, which persists after a warning; 5° bad administration of temporal goods with grave harm to the Church, when no other remedy can be found to eliminate this harm

Can. 1742 §1 If an investigation shows that there exists a reason mentioned in Can. 1740, the Bishop is to discuss the matter with two parish priests from a group stably chosen for this purpose by the council of priests, at the proposal of the Bishop. If he then believes that he should proceed with the removal, the Bishop must, for validity, indicate to the parish priest the reason and the arguments, and persuade him in a fatherly manner to resign his parish within fifteen days. Pro-Life Power : 7,000 at Pioneer Courthouse Square PDX

Dear Advocates for Life, History was made at Pioneer Courthouse Square this Sunday, when over seven-thousand cold, but warm hearted pro-lifers gathered for Oregon Right to Life's Annual Roe VS Wade Memorial Rally. There might not be any media coverage, so enjoy these pictures sent to me by Cheri Crocker of Salem. Gayle Atteberry, executive director of Oregon Right to Life, spoke to Christan News Northwest before the event: "We see God's sovereignty in this.....Our board made the decision that we wanted to make it bigger and take it to the heart of downtown Portland. They need the message of life more than any other city in the state of Oregon. We made this decision early in the year, but in retrospect, with the results from the election, I'm happier than ever that we made it." Coming into Portland did bring a little confrontation, but this too was expected and showed stark contrast to what the saving the pre-born children is all about. Maybe hearing the speakers made a small conversion in their conscience. One sign said "God is invisible"...held by a young woman...let's pray that she "saw" him in those at the rally. Bishop Robert Vasa, "Those who say they love God, but back abortion, are liars."

Dear Advocates for Life... No confusion here. His Excellency Robert F. Vasa comforts us with the Truth. No gray area for Our Lord. The Pro-Life "Lite" shams perpetrated upon Catholics in the pews to hijack the true meaning of being Pro-life cannot stand up to the Roman Catholic Church teaching that will NEVER CHANGE. Thank you Bishop Vasa for truly loving God. "Preach, my dear Bishops, like the Fathers of the Church. The first duty of a bishop is to preach, not only to administer a diocese. The Church needs to see and hear bishops preaching like the Fathers of the Church." by Father Marcel Nault Those who profess to love God, but back abortion, are liars By Bishop Robert Vasa BEND — The Mass readings for the week between Epiphany and the Baptism of the Lord are taken from the First Letter of St. John. These readings are not always used for it often happens, depending upon the day on which Christmas falls, that the season of ordinary time begins immediately after the celebration of Epiphany. This year, however, the occurrence of Christmas allowed for a full week between these two post-Christmas celebrations and thus the readings from St. John's first letter. As often happens, the daily Mass readings are both appealing and challenging. The reading of Thursday from I John 4:19ff is particularly appropriate in this year when the life issues are very much on the minds of pro-life persons. The reason for the increased awareness and even concern on the part of the pro-life community is the specter of the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) which is highly rumored to be in the works at the federal level. It is this act which has stimulated the bishops of the United States to launch a massive postcard campaign calling upon the House and Senate to abandon FOCA. While further details about the dramatic impact of FOCA on our American culture can be found in many places, I will simply say that it would establish abortion as a federally protected right and, as I understand it, preclude state limitation or regulation of abortion. Further, since abortion would be a federally protected right, it is very possible that even Catholic health care institutions and Catholic Physicians would be mandated to provide this heinous service. Thus I strongly urge all who have a glimmer of concern for the lives of pre-born children to engage themselves in this postcard campaign. This is not an action which would limit or alter present permissive abortion laws, which some so-called Catholic pro-choice persons might object to, it would simply preclude a dramatic expansion of that permissiveness. Thus it would be very difficult for any Catholic, no matter how much in favor of abortion itself, to find a reason to refuse to participate in this campaign. At the same time, I do not see how any Catholic senator or representative could vote for the passage of FOCA without recognizing that such a vote would constitute a direct and intentional declaration of their disdain for Catholic teaching. Such a vote would be tantamount to a public declaration of their intention to abandon the Catholic faith. It would be imperative that the faith consequences of such a declaration be allowed to fall fully on the heads of those who would make it. The writing from St. John applies: "Beloved, we love God because He first loved us. If anyone says, 'I love God,' but hates his brother, he is a liar; for whoever does not love a brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. This is the commandment we have from Him: Whoever loves God must also love his brother." We of the Catholic faith certainly know that love of God is central to our tenets, this is the appealing part. It is hard to imagine a Catholic saying, "I am a Catholic in good standing but I do not love God." But the inspired scriptures tell us that whoever does not love his brother or neighbor does not and, indeed, cannot love God. This is the challenging part. The people of Jesus' day understood this and it was this understanding that prompted them to ask, "And who is my neighbor?" For all of us, and especially for Catholic legislators in every strata of government, it is necessary to declare, in conformity with the Natural Law and the teaching of the Catholic Church that, the pre-born child is our brother, our sister, our neighbor! It may sound a little strong to state that legislators "hate" the pre-born child but hate is an absence of love and love means to wish another well. There is nothing about abortion that wishes the pre-born child well. The preservation of abortion "rights" is already an absence of love for the pre-born child but the passage of FOCA could be construed as nothing less than active and positive disregard, even hatred, for these our brothers and sisters. To paraphrase St. John, "If anyone says, 'I love God,' but votes for FOCA, thus showing a disregard for his pre-born brother or sister, he is a liar." Lots of things can be rationalized in government but I do not see any way in which any Catholic could rationalize or justify an affirmative vote for FOCA. It is not necessary for your postcards to be as outspoken as this bishop but you do have an obligation to participate in this concerted effort to show love for the tiniest and most defenseless of our brothers and sisters. President-elect Obama made it very clear, prior to the election, that he would happily sign FOCA and the millions of Catholics who voted for him hopefully did so for reasons other than this promise and certainly not because of it. It seems to me that it is particularly incumbent upon these same voters to make it clearly known to their representatives that their vote may not in any way be taken as a sign of support for FOCA. Another way in which we show our affirmative love for our pre-born brothers and sisters is by way of our annual memorial on Jan. 22. This year the Diocesan Office of Pro-life Activities has scheduled a rosary and Mass at St. Joseph's in Prineville on Thursday evening, Jan. 22. The rosary will commence at 6:30 p.m. with Mass beginning at 7 p.m. While I recognize that many parishes host similar memorial Masses to pray for the two-fold victims of abortion, the child and the mother, I invite any who can to join me at the rosary and Mass at St. Joseph's in Prineville. Regardless of how many years have passed since the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court Decision and regardless of how prevalent and routine abortion has become in this country, the simple truth remains, it is an act of extreme violence to the pre-born child and to the distressed mother. Thus, if anyone says, "I love God" and still favors abortion, he is, to quote St. John, a liar. May we all live out faithfully what it means to love God. ******************************************************************************************************* The above article mentions Diocese of Baker events...Please remember the Roe VS Wade Rally at Pioneer Courthouse Square this Sunday, January 18th from 2-3pm.
