Apostolic Visitation Finalized...Vatican reviews results

In Oregon, the Apostolic Visitation led by Mother Mary Clare Millea gathering an overview of women religious in the United States was welcomed by many of the laity disturbed by the Archdiocese of Portland's lax oversight of some of these Orders.

This Visitation was first mentioned in 2009 here as well as the dissenting Orders of woman religious.

There is support of the woman's ordination movement among other heresies.  They are so ingrained here that having any help is welcomed for sure.

Understanding that the Church confused many people forty years ago, there was much disappointment regarding the clergy, the times were changing, so many Religious bailed.

Change to right the wrongs seems agonizingly slow, but fighting for Christ just gives us perseverance. We pray that the women who broke their vows would make it right for their own Souls.

CNS Story: VISITATION-REPORT (UPDATED) Jan-11-2012 (810 words) With photo posted Jan. 10. xxxn Three-year study of women religious completed; Vatican reviews results By Dennis Sadowski Catholic News Service WASHINGTON (CNS) -- A three-year study of U.S. women religious called for by the Vatican has been completed with the final comprehensive report recently sent to Rome. No details of the findings in what the church calls an apostolic visitation were released by Mother Mary Clare Millea, superior general of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the apostolic visitator appointed by the Vatican to undertake the study. Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, Vatican spokesman, confirmed Jan. 10 that reports had been received by the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life "and is now studying them." "At this time, it is premature to expect comments from the congregation," he said. The Vatican spokesman said the congregation is expected "to make known its evaluation of the results of the visit" at some future date. The apostolic visitation office in Hamden, Conn., did not respond to several requests for an interview. In a Jan. 9 press release, the visitation office said a comprehensive report was sent to Archbishop Joseph W. Tobin, the congregation's secretary. In addition, the release said, Mother Clare had submitted most of the reports on each of the nearly 400 religious congregations in the U.S. and continues to work on completing them by spring, the release said. Mother Clare said in the release that the visitation "generated widespread interest." "The attention to it has resulted in a renewed appreciation for the role of religious in the church and society and has increased dialogue and mutual awareness among the various communities in the United States," she said. "These tangible benefits of the visitation will continue to be realized." The visitation was initiated in December 2008 by Cardinal Franc Rode, then prefect of the congregation who has since retired. He cited the desire to learn why the number of members in U.S. religious communities had declined since the late 1960s and to look at the quality of life for some 67,000 women religious as prime reasons for the investigation. As the process began, the Leadership Conference of Women Religious, which represents about 95 percent of U.S. women religious, questioned what its officials considered a lack of full disclosure about what motivated the visitation. They also objected to the plan to keep the orders from seeing the final reports. The decision to conduct the visitation, combined with the subsequent announcement that the LCWR would undergo a doctrinal assessment by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, cast a shadow over the work of women religious. As the apostolic visitation and doctrinal assessment were carried out, both were conducted with little formal comment from the parties involved. Privately, however, some sisters and leaders of religious orders questioned why the two inquiries were being undertaken and they expressed concern that their ministries, often among people on the margins of society, were being misunderstood by church leaders. Cardinal Rode subsequently said in a statement released by the Vatican that he hoped the visitation process would encourage vocations and "assure a better future for women religious." In an interview on Vatican Radio after the statement's release, Cardinal Rode said some media presented the investigation "as if it were an act of mistrust of American female religious congregations or as if it were a global criticism of their work. It is not." Cardinal Rode also asked the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to help cover the cost of the visitation, which was estimated at $1 million. The visitation process began with meetings between Mother Clare and 127 superior generals. It was followed up with the distribution of a questionnaire to the religious orders. Topics covered were related to the life and operation of the orders: identity; governance; vocation promotion, admission and formation policies; spiritual life and common life; mission and ministry; and finances. Once the information was collected and compiled, teams of visitors fanned across the country throughout 2010 to meet with congregational leaders as well as individual members of religious orders. About 90 congregations were visited by dozens of volunteers. Archbishop Tobin, an American, became congregation secretary in October 2010. He told Catholic News Service last August that the congregation would review all of the visitation reports when received and that its responses to the participating religious communities would be marked by dialogue and would be a step toward healing. Bishop Leonard P. Blair of Toledo, Ohio, was appointed apostolic visitor for the assessment of LCWR. He completed his report in July 2010. Sister Annmarie Sanders, LCWR director of communications, told CNS in late December that the last contact the organization had with Vatican officials occurred when its leadership team made its annual visit to Rome April 27-May 4. "They (the team) were informed that the congregation had no new questions," said Sister Annmarie, a member of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Infants Still Sacrificed Because of Fear

Today, December 28th, is the The Feast of the Holy Innocents.  One small Child was feared by a king and many children died hoping that He was among them.

Nowadays, fear also rules the hearts of mothers that would have their children killed by abortion.

In both cases infants show the power they hold to change lives.  May we embrace this change and help those who are fearful with love.

Holy Innocents, pray for us.

1 Corinthians:13 --- Christmas version

If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love, I'm just another decorator. 

If I slave away in the kitchen, baking dozens of Christmas cookies, preparing gourmet meals and arranging a beautifully adorned mealtime, but do not show love, I'm just another cook. 


If I work at the soup kitchen, carol in the nursing home and give all that I have to charity, but do not show love, it profits me nothing.

If I trim the spruce with shimmering angels and crocheted snowflakes, attend a myriad of holiday parties and sing in the choir's cantata...but do not focus on Christ, I have missed the point. 

Love stops the cooking to hug the child.

Love sets aside the decorating to kiss the husband. 

Love is kind, though harried and tired. 

Love doesn't envy another's home that has coordinated Christmas china and table linens. 

Love doesn't yell at the kids to get out of the way, but is thankful they are there to be in the way.

Love doesn't give only to those who are able to give in return, but rejoices in giving to those who can't. 

Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.

Love never fails.

Using Our Lady of Guadalupe to Promote and Confuse in the Archdiocese of Portland

The latest Catholic Sentinel had an article on VOZ.   Day Laborers/ Our Lady of Guadalupe   VOZ has anti-Catholic ideals (apart from the Catholics that might be in VOZ) Using the Blessed Mother confuses people.  This organization is not as it seems and using the Blessed Mother is very sad and desperate.

The list of allies on their webpage displays the heretical values that run VOZ.  The Blessed Mother is tainted by helping promote them.  Can you tell me please why we are still funding this?  (By the way, giving money for just a "part" of the group is still giving to the group through "fungible funding".)

The Archdiocese of Portland has given this organization money, publicity and credibility for ten years.  It looks like Oregon Catholics have to wait for their new Archbishop to be appointed who uses our collection plate monies in a prudent, thoughtful manner "obeying" the  rules of CCHD and the Church.

By the way, here is an article regarding the $64,000 on the average salaries for VOZ. Is this considered a poverty wage to the CCHD and Archdiocese of Portland?  Most Oregon Catholics would love to have that as a salary.

"Little Lent" + New Liturgical Changes = Loving the Lord, Body and Soul

Come, Lord Jesus, Come.  Our Catholic New Year moves us toward Christ: Body through "Little Lent" or Advent and Soul with the New Liturgical Changes in the Mass.

According to present [1907] usage, Advent is a period beginning with the Sunday nearest to the feast of St. Andrew the Apostle embracing four Sundays. The first Sunday may be as early as 27 November this year, and then Advent has twenty-eight days, or as late as 3 December, giving the season only twenty-one days. 

With Advent the ecclesiastical year begins in the Western churches. During this time the faithful are admonished:

• to prepare themselves worthily to celebrate the anniversary of the Lord's coming into the world as the incarnate God of love,
• thus to make their souls fitting abodes for the Redeemer coming in Holy Communion and through grace, and
• thereby to make themselves ready for His final coming as judge, at death and at the end of the world

Saint Andrew, the first apostle The Church celebrates the feast of Saint Andrew on November 27th, an important date in the annual liturgical calendar, because it determines the date of the First Sunday of Advent, which is the Sunday nearest this Feast. Saint Andrew is the patron saint fishermen, and of both Scotland and Russia.

Andrew, the first Apostle called by Jesus, was a fisherman from Bethsaida and the brother of Simon Peter. A follower of John the Baptist, Andrew recognized Jesus as the Messiah when John baptized Our Lord in the Jordan River, and he introduced his brother Simon to Jesus. The two brothers continued as fishermen until Jesus called them as Apostles.

After Pentecost, it is believed that Andrew went to Greece to preach the Gospel of Christ Jesus.

Saint Andrew, called the "Protoclet" (or "first called") by the Greeks, was crucified at Achaia by order of Roman Governor Aegeas during the reign of Nero. He was bound, not nailed, to the X-shaped cross in order to prolong his sufferings. According to tradition, he preached from the cross for two days, and died on the third day.

•  Little Lent lasts until Christmas Day.

That's why Advent has traditionally been known as a "little Lent." As in Lent, Advent should be marked by increased prayer, fasting, and good works.  all great feasts have been preceded by a time of fasting, which makes the feast itself more joyful.

"Occupy" Movement in Oregon Nurtured by CCHD's Past Grantees

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) will have it's collection this weekend, November 19, and 20th.  Past grantees have been given funds for decades creating the climate; creating the Occupy Portland movement and "army" to occupy the parks and streets.

Throughout the years groups like Street Roots, Sisters of the Road, Dignity Village,  PhotoVoice (a Sisters of the Road project to buy cameras for the homeless so they can film their lifestyles) and anti "Sit-Lie In"  have been funded by CCHD.  We even gave $5,000 to Dignity Village for a lawn. We are still under the spell of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon and seem to follow their lead on being progressive and liberal.  Finally, Sisters was taken off the list of grantees.

A vocal Oregon Catholic said "this is the sin of Covetousness". Catholic monies have been going to many other groups that cause discontentment.  These people need an answer.  Evangelization.  If we want to end homelessness, greed, violence...Christ and the love of Christ is the only remedy.

Funds for the unborn cannot touch the hem of the amount that "Catholic social teachings" receive.  Since "life" in the new term Office of "Life" and Justice and Peace

means anti death penalty first, immigration as the main part of Life...the unborn as still left behind, but seemingly used as a way to seem more compassionate.


Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen in his, easy reading inspirational, book Way to Happiness says,

"One of the greatest mistakes is to think that contentment comes from something outside us rather than the quality of the soul. There was once a boy who only wanted a marble; when he had the marble he wanted a ball; when he had the ball, he only wanted a top; when he had a top, he only wanted a kite, when he had the marble, the ball, the top and the kite, he was still not happy.  Trying to make a discontented person happy is like trying to fill a sieve with water.  However much you pour into it, it runs out too rapidly for you to catch up."

In 2003 the Office of Justice and Peace was run by Frank Fromherz who was fired by Archbishop Vlazny after decades years of aligning himself and the Archdiocese of Portland with progressive, socialist ideals. 

"Frank Fromherz of the Archdiocese of Portland's Office of Justice and Peace, one of the key organizers of the action, explains through an interview taped two weeks later the reasons for the action, its historical context, and the spiritual (and political) motivations for taking such a step. Days after the interview was conducted, Fromherz was fired from his job by the Archdiocese. He was let go at least in part for his outspoken activism against the war, despite the fact that the Pope himself was against the war."

Archbishop Vlazny and Bishop Steiner to Retire in 2012

• Archbishop Vlazny and Bishop Steiner will be retiring in early to mid 2012.

They are sending in their letters of impending retirement to Rome. We wish them well and thank them for their sacrifices.

• With the 2011 USCCB fall meeting in session our two Archbishops:one known and one unknown are in Baltimore, Maryland from November 14-16.

We pray for our new Archbishop, whoever he is, and know that our new shepherd will be the Lord's Will for Western Oregon.

$64,000 Salaries; Archdpdx, CCHD and "Fiscal Incest" Part one: VOZ

The Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) collection will be starting in mid-November this year. Progressive groups have been the recipients for decades in Oregon. 

Their tangled web, or "fiscal incest" as coined by economist John Kenneth Galbraith is a "long chain of holdings by one company in another." Alinzky organizations are used for leverage and and control of ideals that are not in keeping with the Catholic Church.

• How can a staff making over $64,000 even be considered when the CCHD guidelines have been violated for ten years?

• VOZ recipient of large national grants and local Oregon grants for TEN YEARS

VOZ will not be adversely affected because they have many avenues of revenue. Any federal and states grants are already taken out of our paychecks. There are few people who run many organizations. They believe in their causes, but they are not to be paid with Catholic collection plate money. For ten years we have given hundreds of thousands of dollars to VOZ. Its connections to pro-abortion, "lesbian, gay, bisexual. transgender, queer connection", along with La Raza (anti-US) promotions needs to be stopped until CCHD is extinct. What to do?

• OVERSIGHT and apologies from the "invisible Oregon CCHD committee"

• Those on the committee that choose VOZ for ten years should be investigated and fired.

• We should be privy to who is on this committee.

• There is in-house funny business at the Archdiocese of Portland and it should be exposed.

• There is "fiscal incest" to ACORN type groups that promote anti-Catholic values.

• There salaries are not in line with Matt Cato's statement above. What does he get if this is poverty wages?

• Our collection plate money is being used with political motivations and leverage to continue anti-Catholic values.

• The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is NOT mandatory.

• We can donate our hard earned money to organizations we believe in without being told what to do. They must think we're so hard-hearted that the Holy Spirit in our lives only comes from CCHD.

• IDEA! Post organizations deemed worthy of financing on the USCCB website. This eliminates the need for administration costs, banquets to congratulate themselves and"fiscal incest".

• IDEA! CCHD, start respecting the laity and stop feeling so superior. We're all here to serve the Lord and be with Him forever in Heaven.

A few weeks ago I started doing a little poking around on the ACORN website. I had heard many times about all the connections between Soros, Acorn and the Administration. However, I guess I wanted to see for myself. I found some interesting things that prompted me to dig a little further. Some of this information may be old news but I thought it was worth sharing. I think this shows the complete circle. First I have provided a summary of how I see things. Further down are links and other information I found.

ACORN: Organization with Not-for-Profit Status that hides behind the "non-partisan" facade so as to continue receiving tax payer funding. Exposed for corrupt practices including facilitating prostitution and voter fraud aligations.

GEORGE SOROS - Ultra Liberal and Ultra Rich financier of ACORN, Barack Obama Campaign, Media Matters, Open Society Institute, and a spider web of other organizations and causes. Owns much of the media.

BARACK OBAMA/Democrat Party - Benefits by ACORN's eagerness to keep the money flowing by using voter registration to build their membership and thus their donations. Supports (or did) ACORN so as to please the one holding the purse strings (SOROS), the motor behind his campaign.

ACORN uses Soros funded "organizing" software (democracy in action) to compile their databases and collect donations. A COMPLETE CIRCLE!

21-October-2008 -- Catholic News Agency "Catholic" Political Groups Being Financed by George Soros New York, Oct 20, 2008 (CNA).- The Catholic League’s president Bill Donohue has come out swinging at Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good and Catholics United for having ties to the left-wing financier George Soros. Donohue charges that Soros’ liberal credentials couldn’t be more clear, citing a 2005 campaign by Soros-financed Moveon.org to convince Americans that they should back Democrats efforts to filibuster President George W. Bush’s judicial nominees to the Supreme Court. At the time of Moveon.org's effort Donohue described it in a statement as: “a picture of a smiling Pope Benedict XVI holding a gavel outside the U.S. Supreme Court, along with the following inscription: ‘God Already Has a Job…He does not need one on the Supreme Court’.” Although the incident occurred in 2005, Donohue now says that Soros is financing two organizations that have close ties to the Democrat Party and are “apologists for abortion rights.” According to The Catholic Key, Ambassador Elizabeth Frawley Bagley, the Chair of the Board of Directors for Catholics in Alliance is the wife of former Democratic National Committee finance chair, Smith Bagley. “Ambassador Bagley has herself given hundreds of thousands of dollars to the DNC, as well as to numerous stridently pro-choice Democratic candidates including, Barack Obama, Al Franken, Barbara Boxer, Claire McCaskill, Charles Schumer and The Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund," The Catholic Key reported. Catholics United also has ties to the Democrat Party, according to the group's web site. Catholics United Director of Organizing, James Salt, "oversaw the Kansas Democratic Party's faith outreach efforts, including messaging work for Governor Sebelius and development of faith-based messaging resources," the site says. Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is currently in hot water with Archbishop Joseph Naumann for her close ties to abortionist George Tiller and her support for abortion. Donohue alleges that these groups also have monetary links to George Soros. “In 2006, Soros’ Open Society Institute gave Catholics in Alliance $100,000 (double the amount he gave in 2005), and in the same year Catholics in Alliance listed Catholics United on its 990 (line 80b) as an organization with which it has a formal relationship,” Donohue asserts in documentation the Catholic League provided to CNA. As further proof of a link, the Catholic League president cites a May 20, 2006 Washington Post article in which John Podesta, who runs the Soros-funded organization, Center for American Progress, “admits that he works closely with Catholics in Alliance and Catholics United.” In an email to CNA on Monday, Catholics United president Chris Korzen denied any links to Soros. “Catholics United has no connection with Mr. Soros. We have taken money from neither him nor OSI,” he said. The Catholic League’s Director of Communications, Susan Fani, responded to Korzen's denial by telling CNA that the League stands by its statement and that the evidence is well documented. For his part, Donohue believes that George Soros, who is Jewish, is driven to fund Catholic groups because he has an agenda to normalize Catholic support for abortion. “The reason Soros funds the Catholic Left is the same reason he lavishly funds Catholics for Choice, the pro-abortion group that has twice been condemned as a fraud by Catholic bishops: they all service his agenda, namely, to make support for abortion rights a respectable Catholic position,” Donohue stated on Monday. As reported by CNA last Friday, Catholics in Alliance and Catholics United both came under fire from Archbishop Chaput of Denver, who said that the groups are doing a “disservice” to the Catholic Church.

Catholic Campaign for Human Development

The money for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is generally taken up each year the Sunday before Thanksgiving. It is then distributed to various groups that claim to fight poverty and here’s where the problem comes in.

Many of these groups either DIRECTLY contribute to the culture of death by openly supporting abortion, same sex so-called marriage, contraception, etc. Many others INDIRECTLY contribute to the culture of death by belonging to groups and associations that band together to promote the above referenced evils. In both cases, dozens of these groups are getting money that YOU throw in the plate thinking you are helping poor people.

These revelations a couple of years ago sparked an angry response on the part of many leaders in the Church as they lashed out at the messengers who were exposing these corruptions. And it’s important to realize that these charges of diverting much of this money to liberal pro-culture of death forces did not start just two years ago. This behavior has been going on for decades and every time in the past the CCHD has ducked and bobbed and weaved and accused those asserting the charges of ridiculous things like lying being uncharitable and so forth.

But this latest round has ignited a flurry of research over the past two years with the CCHD finally on the defensive. After numerous meetings with their accusers that they were essentially shamed into the CCHD agreed to revise their policies and guidelines which they did. The problem is that the problems got EVEN worse, with even MORE pro-death groups getting YOUR money.

When this was uncovered by the American Life League (ALL), after months and months of intensive research, the group collected all its information into one report and sent a copy of the damning information to every single bishop in the United States.

The response from the CCHD was, “Oh, these are nothing but the same old charges and recycled accusations. Don’t be silly. We’ve reformed and everything is perfectly fine.” This is the same message that was relayed to the bishops when they began asking questions and reading the reports. The CCHD denies that there are pro-culture of death groups getting YOUR collection plate money.

The CCHD is wrong. They have been disingenuous in their responses both to the laity and to the bishops. This outfit has its own agenda and has been pushing it for years and now after reluctantly being shamed into revising their own guidelines and they hide their continued practices behind the fact that they have produced a new set of guidelines, but they clearly don’t follow them in many cases. The problems at the CCHD have actually gotten worse in terms of the number of bad groups getting your money. This problem has gone on for so that its time to bring the CCHD to a close. Shut down the whole operation.

If the Church wants to, as it should, engage in the corporal work of mercy of helping the poor, then it should do it though solely solidly Catholic groups and organizations.

If the people in charge won’t end this then the people in the pews needs to.

Do not contribute to the CCHD.

CATHOLIC MEDIA COALITION ENDORSES BOYCOTT OF ANNUAL CCHD COLLECTION

For years the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has awarded grants to organizations that work against Catholic teaching, particularly with regard to human life and marriage. Not only have donations from generous Catholics in the pew gone to groups that organize and lobby against Church teaching, but they have indirectly, and even directly, helped to elect liberal politicians who advance evil causes.

In view of the recent devastating report from American Life League and ReformCCHDNow which indicates that the problems continue and have even worsened, the Catholic Media Coaltion endorses a boycott of the annual CCHD collection and urges Catholics to give instead to local organizations that serve the poor. Crisis pregnancy centers, Catholic free clinics and food pantries, Catholic shelters and homes for unwed mothers, organizations that serve the third world through clean water and immunization projects are all worthy alternatives to CCHD.

Despite their assurances to the contrary CCHD continues to funnel a large percentage of donations into community organizing groups and coalitions that are hostile to the faith and undermine the family. That is, certainly, no way to help the poor.

There were nearly 200 pro-life people and about 60 supporters for Planned Parenthood's proposed prenatal killing center in Springfield. Six priests were there and one led the crowd in a prayer before the hearing. Please pray that they can stop Planned Parenthood. In the last four years Planned Parenthood has put up three new centers in the state and are trying to put up a fourth. Reform CCHD Now Update - National

The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) will be starting its fall collection in November. Here is the latest nationally and there will be a local report soon. To get these updates you can go to www.reformcchdnow.org and sign up. We are a microcosm of this national macrocosm. For decades faithful Catholics have warned us of this attempt to divert our collection plate money to anti Catholic groups and not using our money wisely. A real solution to make sure faithful Catholics are treated with respect, there should only be a web page on the USCCB website listing the Bishops suggestions. This would remove any doubt we would have by giving money directly to the organization, doing our own research and not paying administrative/pr/mailing costs.
